“ Great little take away to be found in the Hamlet of Milldale, good varied selection of food for take away. They also serve great ice cream around 8 flavours, various sandwiches, cakes, pastries and hot drinks. My favorite is a mug of hot Bovril, not too everyone's taste though lol. If having a cake I would highly recommend the Nelson's Square, omg very very moreish note I have not found this anywhere else lol.l Would highly recommend a visit, especially if you have walked from Dovedale. ”

“ We visited Polly’s Cottage towards the end of a long walk. The closer we got to Milldale the more people we saw walking towards us with the most delicious looking ice creams. We hardly waited any time at all to be served and after studying the extensive menu board we decided to try the Bakewell Tart with a tea and coffee. The cake was delicious! We were really impressed with what Polly’s Cottage has to offer, from drinks and snacks, ice cream, ibuprofen, plasters, sun cream and more! We will definitely visit again ”
“ First time coming here and the lady serving was lovely! A great motivator, to enjoy a lovely stroll from Dovedale carpark to Milldale. And the ice cream was huge! So although it was 6.00 per ice cream (a two scoop waffle cone), it was well worth it! Toilets located nearby and some benches to enjoy a sweet treat! ”

It was a nice place, no indoor seating as far as I am aware, but places to relax near the river, served outside through a hatch at the door. Takes cards and cash. ”

The woman who services me (presumably Poly!), couldn't help us enough, and was really talkative and helpful. The coffee tasted fantastic too. Situated right near the river too, and a couple of benches to sit on and watch the wildlife in and around the stream. ”
